Academic Symposium The relationship between culture, identity, and conflict has long been a focus of faculty research and student interest at Cornell. This symposium will kick off a campus-wide conversation by delving into the significance of cultural allegiances and formations in world affairs. Moderator: Biddy Martin, Provost Guest Speaker: Robert Kagan, Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, expert in U.S. foreign policy and national security, and best-selling author Discussants will include Isabel Hull, the John Stambaugh Professor of History, and Peter J. Katzenstein, the W. S. Carpenter Jr. Professor of International Studies. Time will be set aside for questions from the audience. The symposium is free and open to the community. |

Inauguration Ticketed guests are asked to be seated no later than 2:45 PM. The procession will begin at 3:00 PM, proceeding from Ho Plaza to the Arts Quad. A limited number of tickets are reserved for staff and students, and will be available on a first come first served basis at the Information and Referral Center in Day Hall. Tickets will be available starting Monday, August 21, 2006. Staff and students may request up to two tickets after presenting a Cornell ID. There will be standing room on the Quad for non-ticketed guests. |
Reception A reception will be held on the Arts Quad immediately following the ceremony. Even if you are not able to attend the inauguration, we hope that you will join us on the Arts Quad to enjoy food & entertainment with our guests and the entire Cornell community. His work incorporates and reflects a legacy of Arabic music, while it forges ahead to new frontiers, embracing many different styles in the process. Free tickets will be available Monday, August 21 on campus at the Day Hall Information and Referral Center, and downtown at the Clinton House. |
